A great go to knife if you have no other, the utility knife.  A mid-sized knife used for miscellaneous cutting. Often available with either a straight-edge blade or a serrated blade, from 4-7 inches in length. The serrated blade with notches helps to cleanly slice soft-textured foods such as breads, some fruits and vegetables, sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs, pies, all without tearing or shredding the inside. Your straight edge could double as a peeler and ideal for general slicing.
